SUCCESS STORIES

ERPNext in the Field

Published case studies from ERPNext deployments across the Gulf and worldwide — what these businesses were running before, what changed, and what it saved.

A note on whose stories these are. The case studies below are published by Frappe Technologies, the company that builds ERPNext, and are drawn from deployments worldwide. They are not Abrion Solutions projects and we do not present them as such — we include them because they are documented, attributable evidence of how the platform performs at scale in industries that match our clients' in Qatar. Our own project references are available on request, once we have the client's permission.

CLOSEST TO HOME

Gulf and Middle East

The region's operating conditions — multi-entity groups, import-heavy supply chains, large expatriate workforces — are the ones we work in every day.

KSA · CONTRACTING & REAL ESTATE

Raissyon Group consolidated 14 subsidiaries onto one system

An industrial group in Saudi Arabia running construction, real estate and trading entities. Client billing was error-prone, project costing misleading, and accounting, CRM and project management each lived in a different application.

Read the detail

They evaluated more than twenty-five ERP products before choosing ERPNext, then implemented it themselves — no IT team — in about three weeks including training for twenty-plus users. The result was accurate accounting with real-time profit and loss per entity, a cloud-enabled remote working culture, and the removal of several overlapping subscriptions. Their technology lead described it as "highly recommended for trading and contracting business".

OMAN · MEDICAL DISTRIBUTION

Alfarsi moved a 10,000-item catalogue off spreadsheets

Oman's largest medical and dental equipment importer and distributor, with batch tracking across 10,000+ items managed by a 25-person operations team buried in paperwork.

Read the detail

Inventory, warehouse management, procurement, CRM and accounting went live together. Old item codes were carried into custom fields so the team did not have to relearn the catalogue. Multi-currency accounting handled foreign supplier payments, quotations and invoices were raised on handheld devices in the field, and barcode scanning was introduced for inventory. Order-to-cash efficiency and inventory turnover both improved. Their CEO's verdict: "there is nothing that ERPNext cannot do".

UAE · EPC / OIL & GAS

NEST gained project-level P&L across 100+ projects

An engineering, procurement and construction company serving the oil and gas industry — 43 years in operation, 400+ customers, 100+ projects — held back by a closed, rigid legacy ERP with no visibility of project-level inventory or cash flow.

Read the detail

Accounts, Selling, Buying, HR and Projects were implemented together. Project-linked procurement, customer billing, inventory and asset tracking finally produced a true project-level profit and loss. One application replaced several, with direct and indirect savings in licensing and manpower. Their operations team called it "really well suited for EPC companies".

KSA · DISTRIBUTION

Arabian Tires migrated two years of data in one week

Saudi Arabia's largest tyre and battery importer and distributor — 50+ years, 1,000+ retailers, 8 brands, 1,000+ products, importing from Korea and China — needed an ERP that could keep up with a high growth rate without proprietary licence costs.

Read the detail

Accounting, purchase, sales and inventory went in, with two years of historical data migrated in a single week using the data import tool. Warranty management was simplified and stockout-driven lost opportunities fell. Go-live took two months. Their technology head's summary: "literally anything is possible with ERPNext".

KSA · HEALTHCARE

Eastern Health Cluster saved $270K in phase one

A Saudi health cluster serving 3.5 million beneficiaries across 22 hospitals and 124 centres with 24,000 employees, managing 400,000 assets and 6,000 items on disconnected platforms.

Read the detail

They started with the Asset module, added inventory, then financials, supply chain and HR — completing implementation in two months and training twenty-plus developers on the framework for low-code app development. Phase one alone saved $270,000, with the model now being replicated across the cluster. ERPNext is declared a reliable open source platform by the Saudi government.

MANUFACTURING

Manufacturers who left licensed ERP

INDIA · STEEL

Multicolor Steel saved $500K in licence fees after 12 years on SAP

A pre-engineered buildings manufacturer with 1,500+ employees and projects across 16 states, which had run SAP ECC 6 for twelve years. Every change needed an external consultant and the licence bill kept climbing.

Read the detail

They ran both systems in parallel for a few months, then self-implemented Purchase, Sales, Accounts, Manufacturing and Projects on ERPNext. What changed was control: customisations that had meant a consultant visit and a quote became configuration their own staff could do. Reported saving on software licensing alone was around $500,000. Their director: "ERPNext has the capability to match and adapt to the growing needs and changes of the customers."

GERMANY · ELECTRONICS

Newmatik eliminated ~$0.5M of per-user licence fees

A printed circuit board and SMD assembly manufacturer operating across Germany, Romania and the USA, serving automotive, oil, mining, LED and aviation customers. Microsoft Navision could not be extended affordably, and the per-user bill grew with every hire.

Read the detail

They trained their own developers on the business processes first, which sped up the rollout considerably. Accounting, manufacturing, sales, purchase, stock and projects went live, along with deep integrations into production machinery and label printing. Eliminating per-user licensing saved roughly half a million dollars — and the saving grows with each new employee.

INDIA · INSTRUMENTATION

SAPCON made 1M items and 400K BOMs usable

A manufacturer of level switches, transmitters and speed monitoring systems — 35+ years, 8,000+ clients, exporting to 90+ countries — could not get its own catalogue in front of sales and production, and orders slipped as a result.

Read the detail

ERPNext went in iteratively: stock, manufacturing and selling first, then CRM, buying and accounts. Quality inspection was added on finished goods and make-to-order planning replaced guesswork on delivery dates. Post-installation complaints fell as quality became measurable. "ERPNext was extremely easy to adopt for anyone as the user interface is beautiful."

INDIA · BUILDING PRODUCTS

FerTech grew organic sales 15% and cut material use 4%

A steel window and door frame manufacturer with 300+ employees and 8 franchises, missing delivery dates on custom orders and unable to measure operational cost.

Read the detail

CRM, procurement, inventory, accounts, assets and manufacturing were implemented together. Faster, more professional quotations improved conversion; real-time material availability with automatic reorder points cut delays. The business reported a 15% rise in organic sales, a 4% reduction in raw material consumption, and repeat purchases from improved customer satisfaction.

INDIA · AUTOMOTIVE COMPONENTS

Shree Polymers cut shop-floor data entry from 5 minutes to 1

A rubber component manufacturer holding 30% global market share, supplying Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover, Toyota and Hyundai, IATF 16949 compliant, with 6 million items and 120 variants. Quality standards were hard to measure and a blue-collar workforce made frequent data-entry errors.

Read the detail

Core modules established the operational baseline, then intelligence was built into the process to auto-feed information into the system. Pre-populated entries and custom validations made it, in their words, "very easy to enter data and very hard to add wrong data". Shop-floor entry went from five minutes to one — a fivefold speed gain — with custom reports for production, stock and subcontracting.

INDIA · MACHINERY

Precihole moved off Tally and Google Scripts to the cloud

A deep hole drilling machinery manufacturer founded in 1990 with four subsidiaries, running Tally for accounting and home-built Google scripts for inventory that needed constant maintenance.

Read the detail

End-to-end operations went onto ERPNext including inventory, procurement and eventually accounting for two subsidiaries, with barcode scanning for stock transfers and biometric attendance. Internal teams were certified on ERPNext for a self-reliant future. "We switched our entire operations to cloud. Our entire team is trained on ERPNext and run self-reliant operations."

DISTRIBUTION, SERVICES & LOGISTICS

Scale, speed and cost

INDIA · B2B ECOMMERCE

Elastic Run grew revenue 300% year on year

A rural last-mile distribution platform with 1,000+ employees, 100,000+ partners across 26 states, 400+ brands and 80,000+ villages, needing a comprehensive and scalable ERP where other products were rigid and expensive.

Read the detail

They started small with accounting, HRMS and payroll, then implemented procurement, sales, inventory and the rest. Revenue grew 300% year on year to a $1.5 billion valuation, redundant SaaS subscriptions were eliminated and millions were saved in licensing. Their CTO: "as we deep dived, we found the framework underneath to be even more powerful."

INDIA · LOGISTICS

FR8 cut server costs 72% and transaction time 80%

India's largest trucking platform, operating around 6,500 trucks with 50,000+ active users. During the 2020 boom their SAP B1 system began to break, with peak-load transactions lagging up to 30 minutes and very high server costs — punishing in a low-margin business.

Read the detail

The leadership team evaluated ERPNext deeply and agreed on potential savings above 70%. Implementation took three months with both systems running in parallel for one month before the switch. Server costs fell 72% and peak transaction time dropped 80% — from six minutes to thirty seconds.

INDIA · MANUFACTURING & SUPPLY CHAIN

Lifelong handles 10,000+ orders a month on a custom WMS

A leading manufacturer of assembly products maintaining a two-hour just-in-time inventory at its customer and a 100% delivery record for over a decade, facing inventory and finance mismatches with SAP B1 becoming too expensive as they grew.

Read the detail

Proper accounting and inventory modules restored data integrity, and a warehouse management system was designed on the Frappe Framework. The result: efficient handling of 10,000+ orders per month and an optimised supply chain with fewer supplier delays and stockouts. "ERPNext has been transformational in Lifelong's growth story."

INDIA · SOLAR SERVICES

Selco connected 60 energy centres across 5 states

A solar energy services company with 60+ centres, 700+ staff and three entities processing 10,000 transactions a month on Tally, spreadsheets and email, with no central visibility and adoption challenges for non-English-speaking staff.

Read the detail

ERPNext became the single point of operations, without the per-module charges other providers applied. The inventory module handled nuances like in-transit stock, and each decentralised team could customise forms, list views and reports to their own needs. Paper, email and Excel use dropped sharply and reporting resources were freed.

INDIA · FINTECH

Zerodha runs 10M+ customers on the Frappe Framework

India's largest stock broker, with over a crore of clients and a 40% revenue increase in FY23, needed a base to build on rather than starting from scratch, plus reliable asset management and an HRMS with a usable interface.

Read the detail

The Frappe Framework powers their stock broking platform, with stable biometric attendance import and a consistent interface across internal apps. Over 10 million customers are managed on the framework, loading 25–30 million records daily. "It has scaled really well to our volumes with continuous improvement to the product."

INDIA · GOVERNMENT

MahaOnline went paperless in a four-week implementation

A government e-governance provider running 6,000 customer service centres across 35 districts with 250+ employees, hampered by disparate applications, email-based citizen issue tracking and expense claims posted physically to head office.

Read the detail

Phase one implemented HR, payroll, issue management, attendance, timesheet approvals, expense claims and accounting — completed in four weeks — with SLA tracking on citizen-raised issues. "We started doing completely paperless expense claims, thanks to ERPNext."

Victory Farms

A large-scale tilapia farm in Kenya centralised production through to retail, replacing numerous tools with one system and freeing its tech team for strategic work.

Meru Greens

Kenya's largest horticulture exporter managed farmer lifecycles, crop cycles, item variants and multi-level quality checks, with mobile access for field teams doing land evaluation and farmer audits.

Rio Innobev

A beverage producer selling ~12 million cans a year through 200+ distributors and 370,000+ retailers, replacing Tally and spreadsheets with accounting, payroll, inventory and sales in one system.

Tea Box

An international tea brand sourcing ingredients with differing shelf lives and preservation needs, running manufacturing, buying, selling, stock and accounts with a 50+ check quality inspection template.

Coffee Bike

Germany's largest mobile coffee chain, with 200 franchise partners across 13 countries, using real-time inventory tracking and forecasting to cut delivery lead times and inventory waste.

Frequently asked questions

  • Are these Abrion Solutions' own clients?

No, and we will not claim otherwise. These are success stories published by Frappe Technologies, the company behind ERPNext, drawn from ERPNext deployments worldwide. We include them because they are verifiable, publicly documented evidence of what the platform does at scale across industries. Our own Qatar project references are available on request, with client permission.

  • Why does it matter that these are from other regions?

Because the pattern repeats. A steel fabricator in India leaving a tier-one ERP after twelve years and a contracting group in Saudi Arabia consolidating fourteen entities are facing the same structural problems as their Qatari equivalents: per-user licence costs that grow with headcount, rigid customisation, and disconnected systems. The local requirements differ — WPS payroll, Arabic invoicing — and that is the part we add.

  • How large does a business need to be for ERPNext to make sense?

The published stories range from a socio-cultural non-profit running 50 events a year to a health cluster with 24,000 employees. In our experience in Qatar, the point where ERP starts paying for itself is usually when spreadsheets have become load-bearing — when one person's workbook is the only accurate record of stock, rent or project cost.

  • Can you put us in touch with a reference?

Yes, once we have scoped your project and know which of our clients is a genuine comparison. We ask their permission first, which is why we do not list Qatar client names on a public page.
